Without Respect (Mobsters’ Gay Sons Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

3.9 out of 5 stars 53 ratings

An Italian mobster raises three sons, but Sal’s youngest son, Benito Banetti, is gay. His father would never permit Ben to be in an openly gay relationship. But Ben intends to change that when he finds the man he wants. When it turns out the man Ben’s been seeing is a Banetti family enemy, his father gives him an ultimatum. Either he marries his cousin, and all is forgotten, or if he is with Mishka Chernov, a Russian mobster, he will disown him.

Mishka Chernov took over his family’s business out of love and respect for his father; however, he realizes he isn’t suitable for this top position in the family. Mishka meets a beautiful man at a sleazy bar, and when he finds out who this man is, he still wants him regardless of the problems Ben Banetti would cause his family’s business. Mishka wants the same freedom and separation from the family business that Ben has.

Without Respect is about two men raised by mob bosses, realizing their families are enemies, but neither will walk away. This story is book one of a MM romance that follows their relationship. It has some D/s and light BDSM elements.

About Brina Brady

From the streets of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, where I ruled as the eldest of five siblings, my life’s journey has been an adventure. After marrying my partner, we started a family and welcomed three amazing daughters into our lives. In 1973, the waves called, and we answered—moving to the sun-kissed beaches of sunny Huntington Beach, California. It was a dream come true.

Later, I married my loving second husband, and when family called, we packed up and headed to Indiana. Retirement opened a new chapter for me, filled with the laughter of my four adorable grandchildren and the company of two sweet cats. It’s a life full of love and completed goals.

For twenty-seven years, I taught at a Continuation High School in Los Angeles, California, where I shared my passion for learning with my students. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Secondary Social Science Credential, and a master’s degree in Secondary Reading and Secondary Education from California State University, Long Beach. I also took creative writing classes at UCLA, which helped fuel my love for storytelling.

Speaking of storytelling, I’ve been hooked on it since I was a kid. As a child, I’d spend Saturday afternoons writing novels while sipping on my grandmother’s homemade, comforting chicken soup. Even as a busy stay-at-home mom, I made time to write every day—it was my escape and my joy. Later, while teaching, I kept writing, though the demands of the classroom meant I had less time to devote to it.

Today, I’m a contemporary romance author who loves writing LGBTQ+ stories. My books often explore complex relationships and emotional journeys, with several series diving into BDSM dynamics. I also write MM romance without BDSM themes, focusing on engaging plots, well-developed characters, and plenty of steamy moments.

When I’m not writing, I’m indulging in my other passions. I’m an avid reader, always getting lost in new worlds and characters. I also love graphic design, where I get to blend art and technology to create something beautiful. And when it’s time to relax, I’m hooked on Turkish TV series—their rich stories and cultural depth totally captivate me. Each of my hobbies reflects my love of creativity, storytelling, and exploring new horizons.

I just loved this book. I really love the Mobster and boy theme and this book has it all. Mishka and Ben are so good together. Ben needs someone to love him and love him and Mishka is just the man to do it. This is another great read from Brina Brady. I just love all her books. They always keep me wanting more. Love it!

Well, this was a quick read, using a slight reference to Romeo and Juliette but without the heavy undertones. Ben and Mishka are the sons of rival mob bosses, and while Ben's father and brothers are not at all accepting of him being gay, to an extreme reaction, Mishka's cares little and gives him control of their empire...which he's trying to take legit. Complications ensue.

It's not a very deep story, more soufflé than a four-course meal, but I grew to care for Ben and Mishka. However, honestly speaking Dom/sub games have never been my thing so I couldn't get as involved as I thought I might. Just a personal taste...which coming from me is pretty strange.

What surprised me most was, I purchased a paperback copy to read and it was formatted a lot like an e-book, which makes it seem longer than it really is.

    3.5 out of 5 stars.

I really wanted to like this book but the story was all over the place and did not flow well at all. The dialogue was very basic and felt forced between the characters. The storyline would frequently jump from one thing to another and it made reading it feel very choppy.

This seems to be another great start to a new series. Looking forward to reading the next book, to see what happens between Mishka and Ben.

The characters in this story are very well written. You have tension and the stacks are high between the Russian and Italian mafia. Who doesn't love a little twist of forbidden love. When these two come together you can feel the sparks and chemistry between Ben and Mishka. Cant wait to see what happens next with Ben best friend. highly recommend this mafia series today

Ben is twenty-one years old, and gay. He has never spent an entire night with a man, his Father would not permit him to be in an openly gay relationship...Oh and his Father is also the head of the Italian crime family the Banetti's.
Ben has spent the past four Friday evenings at the Crowbar club, which although not exclusively a gay club there is some open affection shown between some men there. He has also been meeting up in the alley by the club with an older Russian, they were drawn to each other from across the club, their eyes would keep connecting every ten minutes, during their previous encounter in the alley the Russian asked Ben for his name, he replied 'Mark' the Russian said he was 'Johnny Walker'.
Ben is escorted everywhere he goes in the evenings by Dante one of his cousins and Kylan his personal security, on his Father's orders.
Johnny Walker is actually Mishka and he's the head of the Russian crime family the Chernov's, Mishka can't stop thinking about 'Mark' and wants more than hookups in an alley with him, but first he needs to know more about Mark. He has his brother looking into it for him.
Ben's father hates the Russian's, despite Ben's Mother being Russian, so when he finds out who Ben's been hooking up with he's not happy about it !
Everything comes to a head and Ben is in danger, there are few he can trust, Mishka is determined to protect him and find out who is behind it all...
There is so much happening in this story, I couldn't put the book down as it made for compulsive reading. I just needed to know what was going on, I was shocked when I found out what was going on and who was behind everything. If you like action, passion, kink, love and just an all together great read this is a book for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Start of a new series, mobsters and BDSM

New series from Brina Brady, the gay son of Italian mobster family Benito decides to mess around with a Russian, Mishka, unknown to Ben, the boss of a rival Russian mafia family.
Family betrayal, BDSM, shootings, love and more, this book has something for everyone.
This looks like a great new series, I did struggle at the quarter mark of this book and I don't know why. Hoping it was me and not the book. But thoroughly enjoyed it.
